  WAVE ORIGIN

"Wave Origin" is a selection of works on paper (and paintings on canvas) realized in various years (2004-2013) and developed from the necessity of research for a new intimate direction and pictorial dimension. A new start for a new beginning... Dynamic landscapes with elements in movement. Little explosions (eruptions) of the universe of "painting"... Primordial and fluid "material" researching its spacial dimension. The gesture and the material in the beginning of the pictorial expression.

* "The wave is represented as a subject and carrier of the idea; an element that tends to "grow", growing towards an end result. Here the end result is the painting and its capacity to communicate and reference itself utilizing in first person its own representation, in a self-referencing conversation, to elevate itself to another concept, idea, meaning. A subject that is chaotic in its structure (the wave), is possible to read with a static structure, readable and organized, here it gives representation of the wave only in one instant and that is the "frozen" and "impressed" (expressed) in a painting; through the temporal suspension that is the base structure of art. The instant of the pictorial representation. A subject that originally has a structure strongly improbable in the reading, therefore strongly entropic, becomes its opposite, organized in the representation.

The metaphysical of the surface of the representation.

The wave is a starting subject to grow towards an idea of pictorial representation that removes the weight of the subject and becomes mental, emotive and free". [* extracted from THE ORDER OF THE IMPROBABLE]

The composed structure approaches the primary physicality and literalness (elementary base) of the pictorial material; in an operative procedure of pictorial layers that is "morphological structure" for the narration.

Pictorial levels for a structural analysis of the surface, in an expressive research that relates itself with the feeling...the emotion. The metaphysical base with levels of transitions for interpretations in prospective terms.

The works on paper present in the series "Wave Origin" were developed in an autonomous manner as fragments / moments of landscapes but at the same time also elaborate as preparatory studies the the paintings on linen canvas (of larger dimensions) realized in parallel with the first works on paper.

Below is one of the paintings from the series.

 WORKS ON PAPER

The paintings are the result of a technical process characterized by contrasts. Long periods of exposure to strong homogenous heat and quick flames to absorb the various pictorial layers and bursts of air to distribute the powder into a liquid material that becomes solid. Powders and liquids, heat and solidification. In the description under each painting, "Mixed media" refers to a combination of materials mixed together, such as calcium carbonate, graphite powder, charcoal powder, wax, ink, natural pumice powder, spray varnish and silk screen. The support is 180 / 220 / 300 gram paper. The dimensions are rounded off to the nearest centimeter or fraction of an inch.
